The effects of a half-cent sales tax increase passed by this year’s South Dakota legislature are still not totally known.
The increase came from recommendations from last year’s Blue Ribbon Task Force on Education.

Senator Billie Sutton of Burke was a member of that task force, and says he is seeing good results…..

Sutton says the increases are in more than just dollars…..

Sutton says some schools with shrinking enrollments were not able to give as large raises…..

Sutton says he is optimistic the 2017 session will be open to making adjustments to the law.
