There are more than 200 active bald eagle nests in Nebraska, according to the Game and Parks Commission.
Joel Jorgensen with the nongame bird program says that’s a new record.
He says that means the number of active nests has doubled in the past five years.
Jorgensen says they can’t physically count and check them all.
He says the new tracking method is more efficient, now that the bald eagle population is secure and growing.
