Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue says he’s hearing interest from over 130 entities in 35 states that want to be the new home of the Economic Research Service and National Institute of Food and Agriculture. The Secretary’s reorganization plan calls for moving those agencies out of Washington D.C. Iowa Farmers Union President Aaron Lehman opposes the move.

He says the whole process of moving those offices is proceeding too quickly.

Lehman also says from a budget standpoint it doesn’t make sense to move those offices out of the nation’s capital.

Perdue wants those personnel moved by the end of 2019.
