If you buy your own health insurance in Iowa you will have more options for coverage under the Affordable Care Act next year — but the cost of that coverage is still unclear. Medica is the only insurance company currently offering Obamacare plans in Iowa. Vice President Geoff Bartsh says the company will stay in Iowa next year and offer more options.
A spokesperson for Wellmark says they will also sell the plans in Iowa next year. Bartsh says it’s good for consumers to have more choices.
There could also be additional health plan options outside of the Affordable Care Act next year, but regulators are still working out the details.
