Farm and banking group representatives have been weighing in with Congressional appropriators about using upcoming appropriations bills to give authority and funding for Farm Service Agency loans for farmers. Nebraska Farm Bureau Senior Economist Jay Rempe says it is worth looking into.
He says there is a need for the FSA guaranteed loans as it’s a difficult time for agriculture with all sectors suffering in tandem.
Rempe says producers need to keep in constant communication with their lenders to try and weather the economic downturn.
Rempe says from what he’s seeing the farm economy appears to be on the downside for well into 2017.
