The Yankton School District has provided a summer food program for the last several years, with free meals for those under 18, and at a nominal charge for everyone else.

District Food Service Director Sandy Kramer told the school board (Monday night) that they saw the numbers go up this summer…

The program added a third site at the Middle School this year, along with Stewart and Webster Schools. Kramer says that helped those with limited transportation…

Kramer says the program, which is federally funded, helps provide a more balanced diet…

Kramer says they also provided more than seven hundred “sack packs” for kids each weekend.
