More Information Released on Body Found in Westside Park Pond

Sunday morning at approximately 1145 AM, the Yankton Police Department received a report of a body in the Westside Park Pond area. The Yankton Police Department, Yankton County Sheriff’s Office, Yankton County Search and Rescue, and Yankton County EMS assisted with the recovery of the body.

In a news release, Police Chief Jason Foote says “at this time, we do not suspect any foul play.”

An autopsy will be conducted Monday.
Preliminary results from the autopsy are expected by the end of the week or early next week. This incident remains under investigation.
