South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem made a couple of appointments to the legislature in District 19 this week.

Representative Kyle Schoenfish of Scotland was named to the vacant Senate seat and then Marty Overweg of New Hollard was named to fill the House seat.

Overweg says ag issues are important to him….

Overweg who runs a grocery store and feed center says he has lots of life experience.

Overweg says he knows he has to learn quickly..

Both appointments are effective immediately as the legislative session starts next Tuesday.
