The Minnesota Farmers Union is praising the work Attorney General Keith Ellison and his office are doing to advance the objectives of their Fairness for Farmers Campaign.

MFU President Gary Wertish says they appreciate his efforts to restore competition to the marketplace.

Wertish says the monopoly in meat packing is well advertised and has been inflamed during the pandemic.

In fact, he says the consolidation in the meat packing sector is worse than it was 100 years ago.

Wertish says Minnesota Farmers Union has also backed state efforts to put dollars into expanding the meat processing industry and provide training for meat cutters.
