If you notice a safety issue or emergency situation on or near a railroad track, you are being encouraged to call it in. Jim Weatherhead with the Minnesota Department of Transportation says blue and white railroad emergency signs are posted on both sides of the crossing with contact information specific to that track. He says railroad property is private and nobody should ever be on the tracks

Weatherhead says you should also call if the crossing is blocked for more than 10 minutes.
