The Minnesota Soybean Processors of Brewster are partnering with CGB Enterprises to build a new soybean processing plant near Casselton, North Dakota. MNSP Board Member and Brewster, Minnesota farmer Ron Obermoller says the plant will crush 42.5 million bushels of soybeans annually. The joint venture has been in the works since 2019 and will be known as the North Dakota Soybean Processors.
Obermoller says MNSP and the North Dakota Soybean Processors recently tried to build a soy crush facility. However, this project will be different because of the favorable location and the focus on processing refined soybean oil for the exploding renewable diesel market.
He says groundbreaking for the new plant is scheduled for spring 2022.
The project is expected to create 50 to 60 new jobs. The new facility is being built about 60 miles away from ADM’s soy crush plant in Spiritwood, North Dakota.
