Minnesota Soybean Growers Association board members met with state legislators this week in St. Paul to talk about their priority issues for the rest of this session. Board member Brad Hovel of Cannon Falls says one was the need to delay implementation of the buffer rules until they can be fixed.
There will be a legislative committee hearing on the buffer legislation early next week.
Hovel says another priority is getting property tax relief passed this session. He says they came close last session.
Hovel says they’d also like to see a transportation measure passed to help with upkeep of rural roads and bridges.
He says they applaud legislators for passing a short-term health insurance relief package and hope they’ll work on a longer-term solution.
