Minnesota pork producers are making a difference during the holiday season by donating 6000 pounds of ground pork to Second Harvest Heartland. Minnesota Pork Director of Events and Promotions, Pam Voelkel says it is an activity they have been doing for several years.

She says the 6000 pounds of pork matches the volumes of past years and will be used by families in need in Minnesota. So, they are happy to make the donation.

Voelkel says meat products are rarely donated to the food pantries or banks like Second Harvest Heartland.

And she says meat items are especially in demand around the holidays.
