MN Pork Congress Offers Education and Policy Session

The Minnesota Pork Producers Association hosted their annual Minnesota Pork Congress last week in Mankato.   Seminars were held on current industry topics that varied from technology use to foreign animal disease. The event concluded with their annual meeting and the discussion of several resolutions to be sent forward to the national organization.  One was a proposal to recommend decreasing the mandatory checkoff by a nickel and implementing a voluntary checkoff.   Minnesota Pork CEO David Preisler says this resolution would allow for more flexibility with funds for the organization.

He also noted they were fortunate to have some well attended discussions about Swine Health relating to their state including PRRS.

One technology seminar focused on the use of video cameras to solve problems on your operation and Preisler says there are several benefits to practices such as this.
