A state legislative priority for the Minnesota Milk Producers Association was approved at the end of the recently concluded session and signed by Governor Mark Dayton. Association Executive Director Lucas Sjostrom says H.F. 1725 allows single unit milk trucks a 10-percent increase in their weight capacity as long as they follow bridge limits and recommended tire load weights.
He says the legislation will lead to less transportation costs for smaller dairy operators.
Sjostrom says the Minnesota Department of Regulation had no objections to the 10 percent heavier weight for the dairy trucks.
Sjostrom says the legislation was supported by other Minnesota ag groups and carried by Representative Steve Drazkowski and Senator Mike Goggin.
