Minnesota Corn Growers Association leaders are working with the Governor to improve the new buffer zone law. The measure is an attempt to improve water quality and curtail run off from farm fields. Corn Grower’s Senior Public Policy Director Anna Boroff says they’re pleased Governor Mark Dayton recently stopped asked DNR to stop mapping private ditches as part of the initiative.

She says her group wants the buffer zone law to be implemented as soon as possible and are glad to receive more clarity on the issue.

Boroff says their members will also share some ideas to improve the buffer law when they attend the upcoming Governor’s Water Quality summit.

The other two legislative priorities for the Minnesota Corn Growers are trying to get a property tax relief measure passed as well as a transportation bill.
