Minnesota Farmers Union leaders are working with state lawmakers and the Governor on several water quality policy and program improvements ahead of the legislative session in March. They’ll also be talking about those at the Governor’s Water Quality Summit at the end of next month.  Farmers Union’s Government Relations Director Thom Petersen says part of that discussion involves tweaking and clarifying the new buffer law.

He says several questions need to be answered regarding how to best implement the buffer rule.

Petersen says his group is working with state lawmakers as they prepare bills for the session to tweak the buffer law and other water quality measures.

The Governor’s Water Quality Summit is February 27 and the Minnesota Legislature convenes in March.
