Minnesota Farm Bureau members set policy priorities at their recent convention. They include water quality, achieving farm financial stability, tax relief and health care reform. President Kevin Paap says most of those policies carried over from last year’s convention.
He says tax reform and the writing of the new farm bill will be the main national issues they’ll be lobbying on in 2018.
Paap says one of the most difficult issues they need to tackle is improving the connection between production agriculture and consumers, who are far removed from the farm and ranch.
Paap says at the state level they’ll keep working on solutions for ditch mowing and buffer zones, as well as property tax relief.
