Close to 30 Minnesota Farm Bureau members were in Washington D.C. last week visiting members of Congress and other government officials. Their top priorities were the endangered species act, taxes and biotechnology. Farm Bureau’s Associate Director of Policy Amber Hanson says they want a fix for the Endangered Species Act to deal with the wolf problem in Minnesota.

She says federal agencies are making some positive changes by basing their species listing decisions on science and they’re hopeful that will pay off with the wolf problem.

Hanson says they also talked about the need for passing tax extenders legislation and a tax reform bill. She says having farmers meet with lawmakers was helpful.

Hanson says the Farm Bureau group met with eight of the 10 members of their Congressional delegation and visited all 10 offices.
