Minnesota’s Dicamba task force held their first meeting this week. The group chaired by Lake Benton area farmer Bob Worth came up with some recommendations for the State Agriculture Department. He says they’ll be finalizing those at a later meeting that will likely happen after harvest. Worth says having clear labeling on the product itself and education are two major recommendations.
Worth who serves on the Minnesota Soybean Association Board says his group is willing to work with the ag department in setting up any educational sessions. He says another important recommendation centers around data collection of where and when drift damage occurred from dicamba.
Worth says the concerns expressed by farmers on the task force is that they want to be able to continue using dicamba as it’s an important weed control tool.
Worth says the State Ag Department wants the task force’s final recommendation as soon as possible as they’re in the process of deciding whether or not to approve use of dicamba for next year.
