MN Buffer Rule Challenged

Minnesota State Representative Steve Drazkowski has introduced legislation to repeal the buffer law that was passed last session. He says the buffer measure is unconstitutional.

He says farmers and ranchers have done a good job protecting Minnesota’s environment and the state’s waters are in much better shape now than they were years ago.

Drazkowski says one of two things need to happen. Either the buffer law needs to be repealed or farmers need to be paid for protecting buffer areas.

Drazkowski’s bill has been referred to the House environmental policy committee. He says he’s also working with State Senators for a companion measure in that legislative body.
