Minnesota Turkey Grower’s Association members are pleased with the redone NAFTA now called the USMCA. Executive Director Steve Olson says it not only solidifies trade with Mexico, it also gives turkey growers more access to the Canadian market.

He says having this agreement enhancing markets comes at a good time as recently those turkey markets have been depressed.

Olson says the USMCA helps bring the U.S., Canada and Mexico together providing those needed trade opportunities.

For turkey under the USMCA, Canada has agreed to allow the U.S. to export up to 1,000 metric tons of turkey products each year for the next ten years than the current access and potentially more thereafter.
