Minnesota Soybean Growers Association members are pleased state legislators came up with funding assistance for a soybean innovation campus in Crookston near the University of Minnesota. Soybean Executive Director Joe Smentek says it was one of their top priorities this past session.

He says the project is positive for soybean growers and will give an economic boost to the area and state.

Smentek says it took a lot of hard work to convince lawmakers to approve this legislation.

Smentek says having the crush facilities at the innovation campus will help improve the diversity of soybeans being grown and lessen the need for importing some of the specialty soybeans from other countries.
