The Senate Ag Committee held the confirmation hearings this week for USDA nominees Steve Censky and Ted McKinney. Censky has been nominated as Deputy Secretary and McKinney as Undersecretary for Trade. Minnesota Soybean Growers Association President Michael Petefish says they support both nominees and he’s hoping they’ll be confirmed quickly. He says Censky, who’s the CEO for the American Soybean Association, is very qualified for the position.

Censky told the Ag Committee one of his goals is crop diversification through crop insurance, research and extension. Petefish says all of those are important for farmers and ranchers.

Petefish says Congress needs to get moving and get these and other USDA nominees confirmed.

Petefish says it’ll be helpful to have a USDA Undersecretary focusing on trade because its important to soybean growers and all of U.S. agriculture.
