Late planting and harvest delays across the Northern Plains have impacted soybean growers in Minnesota. University of Minnesota Extension Agronomist Seth Naeve says there are a lot of soybeans yet unharvested in the state and recent rainfall has added to the overabundance of moisture this year creating more harvest challenges.
He says the drying issues are effecting both soybeans and corn, and producers who have started harvesting beans will now switch to corn giving bean a chance to dry down more before going back in to take those out.
Naeve says to add to the challenges, colder temperatures are coming in making things more difficult.
He says perhaps the major fly in the ointment is when more snow hits impacting soybean at based on their own farms..
Naeve says getting the corn out will be simpler, even after more snow hits.
