Pointing to the Equifax data security breach, state Senator John Marty of Roseville wants to make it illegal for agencies to charge fees to freeze credit records in Minnesota
The fees are currently prohibited only if a person is a victim of identity theft and can provide proof of a police investigation. Marty argues *all* consumers should be able to freeze credit records if they suspect someone is trying to steal their identity.
