The state Senate passed a bill (38-28) to lift the ban on Sunday liquor sales in Minnesota. The bill’s author, Republican Senator Jeremy Miller of Winona, says now is clearly the time for the change, which has been years in the making…

But Republican Senator Bill Ingebretsen of Alexandria voted “no” on lifting the ban and doesn’t buy the argument…

The House passed its version of the bill last week. Once the details are worked out on minor differences in the proposals, the finalized bill goes to Governor Mark Dayton’s desk. He has said he’ll sign the bill.
