The Minnesota Cattlemen’s Association along with USDA Aphis and the State Board of Animal Health held a recent workshop on how to protect their herds from wolves. Cattlemen’s Executive Director Ashley Kohls says because the wolf is a threatened species in Minnesota, producers can only use non lethal methods to control them.
She says the wolf population is a definite predator problem for livestock producers and they’re working to fix that problem.
Kohls says the predator problem has been growing and it’s especially prevalent in Northern Minnesota.
Kohls says for predator control questions producers can go to the Minnesota Cattlemen’s website or get in touch with USDA APHIS at the Grand Rapids office at 218—327—3350.
