Farm groups are closely watching the budget process in the Minnesota State Legislature. Minnesota Pork Producers Association CEO Dave Preisler says they’re waiting for detailed budget projections before weighing in on a wish list for agriculture.

He says they are concerned about having to defend some of the positive tax policy advancements that have been made in Minnesota the last few years.

Preisler says they are also monitoring agricultural bills dealing with new livestock permitting rules and changes to the Board of Animal Health.

Pork producers are also interested in any one-time COVID relief dollars given to the states that may benefit their industry.
