Minnesota pork producers received a research update recently from University of Minnesota scientists. Minnesota Pork Executive Director Dave Preisler says they looked specifically at the swine research being conducted in both the agriculture and vet schools. Several projects focus on disease transmission and surveillance of infection diseases.
He says scientists are also studying new and emerging swine diseases, plus prevention and treatment of illness with alternatives besides antibiotics.
Preisler says this research update is important with the large amount of checkoff funds being invested at the University of Minnesota.
Preisler says they also toured the vet diagnostic lab and a new isolation wing.
