Minnesota Pork CEO Says Agencies Following Proper Steps On Regulatory Framework

U.S. Department of Agriculture and Food and Drug Administration officials announced they’ve formed a joint regulatory framework for cell cultured meat. Minnesota Pork CEO Dave Preisler says the proposed regulatory framework is the proper route for the agencies to take.

He says the way the agencies divided up the regulatory jurisdiction makes sense because USDA and FDA have different labeling requirements.

Preisler says the public has a chance to weigh in on this proposal.

Both Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue and FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb said USDA and FDA are confident this regulatory framework can be successfully implemented and assure the safety of these products.
