Over the weekend USDA confirmed the 14th case of high path avian bird flu in Minnesota. The latest case was the third turkey flock in Kandiyohi County in an operation of 38,000 turkeys. A total of 218,000 birds have now been impacted by the disease. Minnesota State Ag Commissioner Dave Frederickson says they’re ratcheting up their investigation to isolate the source.

Dr. Michelle Carstensen with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources says they’ve been testing wild birds and that will continue this week. She says they’ve also put turkey hunters on alert as hunting season began this past weekend.

Officials continue to advise producers to practice heightened biosecurity.
Friday USDA also confirmed the disease in Cottonwood, Lyon and Watonwan counties, with a fourth case in Stearns County.
