There’s been movement lately on possible immigration reform. Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue says USDA is working on developing an immigration reform program while House Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte is considering reintroducing his Ag Act which would look at giving legal status to guest workers and also expand the H2A program. Minnesota Milk Producers Association Executive Director Lucas Sjostrum says he’s encouraged some immigration reform is being considered.

He says his group is trying to make it better for immigrant workers by helping them get drivers licenses.

Sjostrum says there is a definite need in Minnesota for immigrant dairy workers.

Sjostrum says for immigration legislation to pass it’ll have to be connected to some other bill and not be stand alone legislation.
