House Agriculture Committee Chairman Collin Peterson says he’s optimistic the new Farm Bill’s dairy policy provisions will be very helpful for dairymen. Minnesota Milk Producers Association Executive Director Lucas Sjostrom agrees and says some details have yet to be ironed out so he’s hoping that gets completed soon to help dairy producers who’ve been facing tough economic times.

He says it’s critical to get the measure out soon to producers so they can sign up.

The farm bill contains the new dairy margin coverage insurance program and Sjostrom says all dairy producers should take advantage of that and sign up.

House Ag Chairman Peterson says the Dairy Margin Coverage program will be retroactive to the first of the year.
