Mexico’s President spoke this week of the need for U.S. immigration reform on a two day visit to California. President Enrique Pena Nieto says immigration reform is about a matter of justice for those who contribute to much to the development of American Society. Minnesota Milk Producer Association’s Executive Director Bob Lefebvre is encouraged by the leader’s comments and is hopeful about Congress eventually passing legislation.
Lefebvre says the dairy industry needs skilled labor that is willing to work and without immigration reform that can’t happen which will hurt the overall economy and in the long run consumers.
Lefebvre says he’s pleased President Obama is at least trying to find a way to achieve immigration reform after the House failed to come to some type of agreement. The Senate passed an immigration measure last year.
