Minnesota Land Stewardship Project members were pleased the Senate Ag Committee today passed the 2018 Farm Bill and sent it to the floor for debate. LSP Federal Policy Organizer Ben Anderson says the measure is much better than the House farm bill.

He was pleased an expansion of the sod saver provision was included in the legislation. Anderson says however they were disappointed the payment limit provision put forward by Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley was not a part of the bill.

Anderson says his group would have liked to have seen the Senate Ag Committee include some reforms of the crop insurance part of the bill to see medium and small sized farmers get more of the benefits.
