House Ag Appropriators have restored $ 5.6 million in funding for the NRCS in their 2018 spending bill. Minnesota Land Stewardship Project Policy Program Organizer Ben Anderson is pleased the House appropriators restored that funding.
He says farmers and ranchers need the technical help NRCS provides and having the proper funding in place is critical in meeting that need.
Anderson says while he knows it’ll be a challenge convincing Senate Ag Appropriators to go along with the House measure, is still hopeful that will happen.
Conservation funding is one of the main priorities for Minnesota Land Stewardship Project members for the next farm bill.
