The 2019 Minnesota legislature adjourned Monday night after Governor Tim Walz and state legislative leaders reached a compromise on a budget. Minnesota Farmers Union Government Relations Director Stu Lourey says they’re pleased funding was approved to address the rising cost of health care.
The Governor and lawmakers also agreed not to raise the state gas tax and to proceed with an infrastructure measure.
He says they support a measure that will likely come up during the special session to increase the ag school tax credit.
Lourey says fiscal analysts say that school ag tax credit increase would mean $30 million in property tax relief for farmers and ranchers over the next two years.
