The Minnesota House on a 133 to 1 vote has passed a supplemental agricultural finance bill. State Farmers Union Government Relations Director Stu Loury says the measure funds needed programs at the State Agriculture Department to assist farmers and ranchers dealing with pandemic.

He says the legislation funds several programs including farm safety, farm advocacy, farmer mental health, and for upgrades at the veterinary diagnostic lab at the University of Minnesota.

Loury says House and Senate leaders worked together on this House bill, so the Senate is expected to agree to the legislation and send it back to the House for final approval and onto the Governor who’s expected to sign it.

Loury says the House also unanimously approved legislation to further extend the deadline for farmers to complete the Farmer-Lender Mediation process that will carry on to harvest time.
