Minnesota Legislature Extends Farm Loan Mediation Program

Midnight Sunday the Minnesota Legislature is scheduled to adjourn their 2016 session. State Farmers Union leaders are pleased the House has passed legislation extending the farm loan mediation program as it was high on their agenda. Farmers Union Government Relations Director Thom Petersen says it’s a needed program that received unanimous support.

He says the farm loan mediation program takes on more significance given the status of the sagging ag economy.

Petersen says there’s still quite a bit of unfinished business for agriculture and time is running out for lawmakers to make headway on needed legislation.

He says lawmakers also have to come to terms with a compromise on a transportation bill and property tax relief.
