Minnesota Legislature Deals with Health Insurance

Late last week the Minnesota House of Representatives passed a $300 million health insurance premium rebate measure. Minnesota Farm Bureau Associate Public Policy Director Cole Ruepprecht says the legislation helps address the cost of rising health insurance premiums that have made it unaffordable for many citizens and has led to some going uninsured.

He says the House measure also addresses the problem of helping the uninsured by providing insurance coverage through co-ops.

Rupprecht says his group backs the House measure and hopes it passes when it reaches the House-Senate conference committee this week.

Rupprecht says besides the health insurance issue, Farm Bureau is also tracking bills dealing with right of way haying, tweaks to the buffer law and tax relief.
