As debate continues on changing Minnesota drivers licenses to meet federal REAL ID requirements, some lawmakers wonder if “enhanced drivers licenses” currently available in Minnesota might do the job. House committee Chair Peggy Scott from Andover asked state Public Safety Department officials
Minnesotans can currently purchase enhanced drivers licenses instead of a passport for land and sea travel to Canada, Mexico, Bermuda or the Carribean. (But E-D-L’s are currently available at only about 10 percent of drivers license offices in the state.)
