Minnesota Lawmakers Want More Funding for Rural Roads

Greater Minnesota lawmakers, upset that MN-DOT didn’t have more rural roads on its 2018 “Corridors of Commerce” funding list, have included a hefty 174 million dollars in the Senate Republican bonding bill to upgrade Highway 14 between Owatonna and Dodge Center.  Rochester Senator Dave Senjem heads the Capital Investment Committee:

 

Some of Senjem’s colleagues are pushing for a law requiring a 50-50 rural-metro split in MN-DOT’s Corridors of Commerce choices.  But others warn against the legislature micro-managing highway projects.
