Minnesota Lawmakers Consider Veterans Homes Funding Bill

Minnesota Lawmakers are considering a bill that would provide federal and state funding for Veterans homes in Montevideo and Bemidji. Angie Steinbach is the Assistant City Manager for Montevideo and says with an aging veteran population, demand for services is high and as for quality of care…

 

Steinbach says the waiting list to receive one of 860 available beds includes more than 15-hundred veterans at any given time. There are currently five state-run veteran’s homes in Minnesota–they are in Fergus Falls, Luverne, Silver Bay, Hastings and Minneapolis.
