Several Minnesota Farmers, members of the Land Stewardship Project are in the nation’s capital this week lobbying Congress on their farm bill priorities. Red Wing area farmer Bill Gorman says one of their main goals is to get solid funding for the Conservation Security Program and keep it as a stand alone program.

He says another farm bill priority is getting assistance for beginning farmers and ranchers.

Gorman says L-S-P is backing Congressman Rick Nolan’s legislation to tweak crop insurance.

Gorman says funding is always an issue when putting together a farm bill but that if lawmakers can at least maintain the funding achieved in the last farm bill that would be a win for producers.
