Minnesota House Speaker Kurt Daudt is leveling sharp criticism at Governor Mark Dayton and his administration regarding the handling of rising health insurance premiums for some Minnesotans. Daudt went so far as to say he’d call for Dayton’s resignation if it came to light that his administration wasn’t doing all it could to solve the problem
Daudt says he will “not accept” that more insurers won’t be able to get into the marketplace and rates cannot be lowered by January 1st. Earlier this month, Dayton called on legislative leaders to reach an agreement on short-term fixes for rising rates by November 1st–the day open enrollment begins at MNsure. Dayton has said he’s open to calling a special session once leaders can agree on a plan.
