Minnesota House Republican leaders have proposed a $46 billion two-year state budget. Minnesota Farmers Union Government Relations Director Thom Petersen says there are several components of their budget plan that will benefit agriculture, including property tax relief and infrastructure funding.
He says if approved the property tax relief plan would provide farmers and ranchers significant savings.
Petersen says Republicans do not have a gas tax increase to pay for infrastructure but would shift some state monies and use bonding to pay for projects.
Petersen says the budget legislation needs to be out by this week Friday and is expected to hit the floor sometime next week. He says differences on the budget will need to be worked out by the House, Senate and the Governor.
