23 Minnesota agricultural and business groups have sent a letter in support of legislation the House passed Tuesday to block EPA’s proposed Waters of the U.S. rule. State Cattlemen Association President Dar Geiss says it’s one of the biggest issues to hit agriculture in some time. He says the rule inappropriately seeks to extend federal power and place more top down regulatory burdens on all types of land use activities.
Geiss says the proposed rule is an overreach of EPA’s authority that would place regulations on even small bodies of water.
The groups stated in their letter that the House legislation, HR 5078 will prevent EPA and the Army Corps of Engineers from developing, finalizing, adopting, implementing, applying, administering or enforcing the proposed WOTUS rule.
