Minnesota Governor Issues Emergency Order

Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton has issued an Emergency Executive Order to help ease spot shortages of diesel fuel. State Ag Commissioner Dave Fredrickson says the Governor is extending his original Executive Order issued during the fall harvest season until December 10.

The action provides carriers and drivers a temporary exemption from the hours of service rule. He says the Governor allowed the exemption because the long wait times to load count against their drive time.

Fredrickson says the Emergency Executive Order should increase the supply of diesel fuel for farmers and other agricultural operations. He doesn’t anticipate any additional problems this winter.
