Some Minnesota farmers are struggling with their balance sheets dealing with a depressed ag economy. Because of that, Farm Service Agency officials are expecting increased business during the upcoming loan season. Joe Martin is Minnesota Farm Service Agency’s State Executive Director.

He says FSA works with local bankers with their guaranteed loan program.

Martin encourages farmers to be pro active and call ahead early for assistance on any of their loan programs and get in touch with their local county Farm Service Agency office.

Martin says for those who can’t get credit with a local bank, they may be able to receive one of the direct loans from FSA. He says farmers can call for an appointment and explore that option if they need to.
